Item :	VERY FINE, AS-BUILT, SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1903 RIFLE, .30-06, 1907 MFG.

Description :

Here is an original, pre-WWI Springfield U.S. Model 1903 Rifle manufactured in 1907 and chambered for the .30-06 cartridge. The Model 1903 was the standard U.S. Battle Rifle of the First World War. Although replaced by the M1 Garand, it continued in service right through the end of WWII. This rifle is in very fine condition. It remains in its original, as-built in 1907 configuration, having never been re-built or re-inspected. The rifle retains 70-80% of its original factory blued finish. There is some rusting on the butt plate. The trigger guard and magazine floor plate have turned brown. There is very light finish wear on exposed edges. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The stock is very fine with a crisp, correct "B.H.M." cartouche in a rectangle on the left side of the wrist. There is a script "P" firing proof behind the trigger guard. The stock has a single bolt and there is no sight cut in the handguard. There is a small chip behind the nose cap on the right side of the stock. The Springfield barrel is dated "1-07". As-built '03 Springfield rifles of this era are very hard to find. This is a really nice example. Stock no. 32670
