Description :

|
Here is an original, U.S. Model 1842 Musket manufactured at Springfield Armory in 1852. It is a percussion, .69 caliber smooth-bore arm. The M1842 has the distinction of being the first U.S. Percussion musket design adopted by the United States. It was also the last smooth-bore musket design manufactured. It was replaced by the M1855 Rifle-Musket. They continued to be issued and were used throughout the Civil War. This musket is in fine condition. It remains armory bright with some light brown patina developing. There are few specks of darker brown patina developing. There is a small rust spot on the trigger plate on the left side of the trigger. The musket has excellent mechanics. The bore is in fine condition with a few small pits, but mostly smooth. The stock is in very good condition with a scattering of small dings and scratches from use. If you want one classic Civil War musket to display, a Model 1842 is a great choice. Stock no. 32309
