Here is an original, Mossberg Model 42M Rifle chambered for the .22 Short, Long, or Long Rifle cartridges. Mossberg made these from 1940 to 1944. A number were used by the U.S. military as training rifles. It is a bolt action rifle with a 23-inch barrel feeding from a 7-round detachable magazine. It has a two-piece Mannlicher style stock. This rifle is in fine condition with more than 90% of its factory blued finish remaining. There are a few tiny speckles overall and the bolt handle knob is turning brown. There is some finish wear on the magazine. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The stock is in very good condition with a scattering of small dings and scratches from use. These were generally fitted with a receiver aperture sight. It has been removed on this rifle and an adjustable rear barrel sight has been installed. These are great rifles for teaching young shooters the basics. Stock no. 17024
