This is an original, Model 30 Mauser Short Rifle manufactured by Fabrique Nationale Herstal (FN) of Belgium. Based on the Gewehr 98, it is basically a K98k. These were made for export and were used by nations worldwide. This rifle is chambered for the 7.92x57mm (8mm Mauser) cartridge. The receiver ring has been scrubbed, so there is no way to determine for whom this rifle was made. It is an import and was refinished before being released for surplus sale. It is in fine condition with nearly all of its current blued finish remaining. There is a bit of wear on the exposed edges. The rifle has excellent mechanics. The bolt has been electro-pencil matched to the receiver. The bore is in very fine condition. the stock is in fine condition and numbered to the gun. The handguard has been replaced. It is an original, but not original to the rifle. There are tiny importer marks on the barrel. Stock no. 31044
