This is a replica of the famed Winchester Model 1876 Lever Action Rifle manufactured by Aldo Uberti of Italy and sold by Cimarron Firearms of Fredericksburg, Texas. It is chambered for the .45-75 Winchester cartridge. Known as the Centennial Model, this was Winchester's first high-powered lever action rifle, capable of taking bear and buffalo. The high-powered rifle market at that time was dominated by the big-bore single-shot rifles of Sharps and Remington. Wanting a piece of that action, Winchester basically scaled up the Model 1873 with a longer, heavier action. Not a particularly strong design, the Model 1876 was produced until 1898. Sales of the Model 1876 had been eclipsed by the Browning designed Model 1886, a much stronger action. This is a faithful reproduction of the original with a 28-inch, full octagon barrel and an authentic Winchester chambering. The rifle is blued with a case-colored receiver and lever. This rifle is in very fine to excellent condition. It retains nearly 100% of its factory blued and case-colored finishes. There are just a couple of very tiny scratches on the magazine tube and barrel. The barrel has bases installed for a scope. The mechanics are excellent. The bore is very fine to excellent but needs a good cleaning. The stock is very fine with a small scrape on the right side of the butt at the heel. Current retail on these is over $2100.00. This one is in excellent condition. Stock no. 32177
