Here is a replica of the famed Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle manufactured by Aldo Uberti of Italy and sold by Taylor's and Company of Winchester, Virginia. The Model 1873 was the "Gun That Won the West" and was made in a wide variety of configurations and barrel lengths. This is a full-length rifle with a 24" full octagon barrel, case-colored receiver, and crescent butt. It is chambered for the .45 Long Colt cartridge. Externally, this rifle is in very fine to excellent condition with nearly 100% of its factory blued and cased-color finishes remaining. There are a couple of tiny specks on the receiver and some dings on the bottom of the brass lifter. The mechanics are excellent. That brings us to the bore. This rifle was improperly stored with no oil in the bore. There is a significant portion (4-6") of the bore that has rusted and is pitted. I don't know that any amount of scrubbing will help it. It is a shame, because aside from the bore, the rifle does not appear to have been used much at all. The high gloss stock and forearm are in very fine condition with a few small dents and scratches from use or storage. There is very nice figure in the wood of the butt. This is a good-looking '73 Winchester with nice case-color. Clean and oil your firearms! Stock no. 32189
