This is an original, British Model 1796 Dragoon Pistol made by T. Ketland and Company. It is a large-bored flintlock pistol of about .80 caliber with a 9-inch round barrel. The gun is finished armory bright. The barrel was cleaned at one time and is redeveloping a very light brown/orange patina. The lock is steel gray with some speckling and some fine pitting in places. The lock works with very little distance between the half and full cock positions. The bore is rusted with some pitting at the breech. The stock is in fine condition. There is a very old chip of wood missing on the left side of the barrel channel at the muzzle. It has been worn smooth over many years. This is a great old warhorse of the Napoleonic era.
