Description :

|
This is an original, WWI, British No.I, Mk.III Short Magazine Lee Enfield Rifle manufactured by Birmingham Small Arms Co. in 1916 and chambered for the .303 British cartridge. It has been rebuilt as a competition rifle with an Australian-made, Central Adjustable rear peep sight. Central was the Australian equivalent of Parker-Hale for the manufacture of target shooting accessories. The rifle also has a modern Monte Carlo style stock. The gun is in fine condition with about 95% of its blued finish remaining. The mechanics are excellent with a matching bolt. The bore is in fine condition with strong rifling. The stock is fine with a few small dings from use. A nice early leather sling is included. This is an interesting example of a target SMLE. Stock no. 31870
