This is a Jaeger custom hunting rifle built on a Mauser action and chambered for the .243 Winchester cartridge. I'm having trouble pinning down exactly what this is. The owner says it is a Jaeger and I believe it may be a pre-war rifle made by Franz Jaeger of Suhl, Germany. If so, it had to have been rebarreled or rechambered post 1955 to the .243 Winchester chambering. At any rate, it is a beautiful rifle in very fine condition. It retains most of its blued finish, about 98%, with just a few very tiny blemishes or scratches. The extractor is jeweled. There is engraving on the receiver, trigger guard, and magazine floor plate. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The stock is European walnut and in very fine condition with a few small dings from use. The pistol grip cap is horn. The butt plate is a White Line No Step. There are some small chips around the edges. The rifle has a heavy barrel marked "243" over "A.Hoyer". The rifle is fitted with a 12X Unertl target scope in very fine condition.
