This is an original, WWII, Japanese Type 94 Semi-automatic Pistol manufactured at Nagoya Arsenal in May of 1942. It is chambered for the 8x22mm Nambu cartridge. Adopted in 1934, production began in 1935. The Type 94 was designed for tank and aircraft crews, who needed a smaller, lighter design. Unfortunately, the Type 94 had one glaring design flaw. The sear bar is exposed on the left side of the frame. If the safety is not on, the bar can be depressed, causing the pistol to fire. This could happen while the pistol was being holstered, which led GI's to name it the "Suicide Special". This pistol is in fine to very fine condition with about 95% of its factory blued finish remaining. There is a bit of holster wear at the muzzle. The bore and mechanics are excellent. There is some light surface rust on the exterior of the barrel in the area within the slide. The black plastic grips are in fine condition with no chips or cracks. One original magazine is included. There is no spare. The gun is in its original holster with the cleaning rod. The holster, a rarity in itself, is in fine condition with tight stitching. There is some light scuffing of the leather on the most exposed areas. This is one of the better Type 94 pistols that I have had. Stock no. 30807
