Description :

|
Here is an original, Pre-WWII Sportmodell V Training/Sporting Rifle manufactured by Waffenfabrik Walther in Zella Mehlis, Thüringen, Germany. It is chambered for the .22 Long Rifle cartridge. Walther introduced this rifle in 1933 as a sporting or target rifle. Existing photos do show these being used by German soldiers as a training rifle. This rifle is in good condition. It retains more than 90% of its factory blued finish with some light overall rust speckling. There is one spot of light rusting on the barrel that is about the size of a quarter. The bolt handle has some rusting, and the checkered bottom of the trigger guard has some rust. Mechanically the action works very well. The lower stock bolt that fastens the forend of the stock to the barrel is missing. There may be a couple of small rust spots in the bore, but I think it will clean up well. The majority of the bore is bright and shiny with strong rifling. The stock is fair with a liberal scattering of small dings and scratches from use. There are some chips at the toe of the butt. The hard rubber butt plate has some small chips at the toe, as well. There is some mildew spotting on the wood. This is a good winter project that should result in a nice rifle. Stock no. 30960
