FINE, ENGLISH COGSWELL & HARRISON CERTUS BOLT ACTION ROOK & RABBIT RIFLE, .297/250 ROOK

This is a bolt action rook rifle made by Cogswell & Harrison of London in late 1906. This is their "CERTUS" Rook & Rabbit Model. It is chambered for the .297/250 Rook cartridge developed by Holland & Holland. Rook is an English term for crow, and these small rifles were intended for farmers who needed to keep varmints out of the garden. This rifle is in fine condition with more than 90% of its original factory blued finish remaining. There are a few tiny rust speckles and a small scuff on the barrel. There is some brown patina on the muzzle. The bolt remains bright. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The stock is very good with a scattering of small dings and scratches from use. There is some light wear around the edges of the butt. The pin for the nose of the stock is missing. There are tiny importer marks on the underside of the barrel just ahead of the stock's forend. It says "Gunshop Inc." and "Lancaster, CA". This is a nice little rook rifle in great condition. Stock no. 31725
