RARE WINCHESTER MODEL 70 CARBINE, .250-3000 SAVAGE CAL., 1936 MFG.

This is a Winchester Model 70 Carbine (Short Rifle) manufactured in 1936 and chambered for the .250-3000 Savage cartridge. The Model 70 Short Rifle (Winchester never used the term carbine!) is distinguished by its short, 20" barrel with the front sight base machined as an integral part of that barrel. Winchester only produced these from 1936 to 1946. This rifle has been fitted with a period 4X scope by Hensoldt Wetzlar. The rifle is in very fine condition. It retains nearly all of its blued finish with just hint of wear on exposed edges. There is a small spot on the left side of the receiver where there was some surface rust. There are some very tiny pits in an area less than the size of a pea. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The stock is very fine with just a few small dings and dents from use. It was fitted many years ago with a brown rubber recoil pad. This is a scarce Winchester in an equally scarce chambering. Stock no. 31691
