Here is an original, French Model 1935A Pistol manufactured by Société Alsacienne de Constructions Mécaniques (S.A.C.M.) in 1947 and chambered for the 7.65mm Longue cartridge. Designed for the French military trials that took place between 1935 and 1937, the pistol was accepted by the French military in 1937. The army got their first pistols in 1939 and about 10,700 were built before the Germans occupied France. The Germans produced another 23,850 during occupation designating it the Pistole 625(f). S.A.C.M. resumed production for the French military after occupation ended in 1944. An additional 50,400 were made until production ended in 1950. Designed by a former French Foreign Legion Captain, the pistol uses many design elements of John Browning's Model 1911 pistol. This pistol is in very good condition with about 70% of its dark blue/black finish remaining. There is significant finish wear on the grip straps and underside of the frame. There is wear on the edges elsewhere, and some tiny scratches and dings overall. The pistol has excellent mechanics and a very fine bore. The black plastic grips are fine with no chips or cracks and just a few tiny dings from use. These pistols saw use in World War II, the First Indochina War, the Algerian War, the Vietnam War, the Laotian Civil War, and the Cambodian Civil War. You can bet that there were a few at Ði?n Biên Ph?. Stock no. 31722
