This is a Stevens No.70 "Visible Loading Repeater" Slide Action Rifle. It is chambered for the .22 Long Rifle cartridge. These were made from 1907 to 1934. When operated the entire breech block lifts out of the rifle gripping a new cartridge in plain sight. The standard barrel length was 22", but this one has a 20" barrel. This rifle is in good condition. It has no finish left with an overall, brown-speckled, steel gray patina. The action seems to work correctly. The bore is fair. There was some pitting in the bore that has been polished out. There is visible but worn rifling. The stock and handguard are in good condition with a scattering of small dings and scratches from use. This is an interesting little gun that you don't often see. Stock no. 31682
