Description :
|
This is an original, WWII, U.S. M1 Garand Rifle manufactured at Springfield Armory in March of 1945. It is chambered for the .30-06 Government cartridge. This rifle is in fine condition. It does not appear to have been arsenal rebuilt, but oddly, the stock and trigger housing are just a bit earlier than the receiver. The stock has the inspector's cartouche of George A. Woody (G.A.W.) and should have the cartouche of Norman F. Ramsey (N.F.R.). The trigger housing is marked D28290-12 and should be D28290-14, again just a bit earlier than records indicate. Everything else appears to be correct, including the uncut op rod. The rifle retains 80-90% of its original parkerized finish with some finish wear on the trigger guard, magazine floor plate, and butt plate. The mechanics are excellent. The bore is excellent as well, with the muzzle and throat both gauging "1.5". The stock is inn very good condition with a scattering of small dings and scratches from use. The Inspector's cartouche is strongly visible. There is a "P" firing proof on the wrist. This is as close to a straight WWII Garand as I have had in a good while. Stock no. 31734
