Description :
|
This is an original, Portuguese Model 1937-A Rifle manufactured by at the Mauser-Werke A.G. Oberndorf A.N. factory in 1937. It is chambered for the 7.92x57mm (8mm Mauser) cartridge. This rifle is very similar to the German K98k with a few small changes. The front sight has heavy protective ears. The rifle has sling swivel attachment points that allow for use by cavalry or infantry. This rifle is in very good condition with all matching numbers. It retains about 50-60% of its factory blued finish with significant finish wear on the nose cap, butt plate, trigger guard, and magazine floor plate. There is also finish wear on the barrel ahead of the barrel band. There are German Waffenamt acceptance markings on most parts. The rifle has excellent mechanics and a very fine bore. The stock is in very good condition with a scattering of small dings and scratches from use. there are visible Waffenamt markings on the butt. There is a crisp Portuguese crest and "1937" date on the receiver ring. There are tiny importer marks on the barrel. Also included is a correct bayonet for this rifle in good condition. There is some significant surface rusting on the grip leaving a dark brown patina that is rough in places. The blade is in better shape with about 80% of its polished blue finish remaining. There are a few rust speckles and some wear on the ricassos. The only marking is a serial number which does not match the gun. The scabbard has some significant rusting with a rough brown patina. This is a scarce K98 Mauser variant. Stock no. 31733
