Description :

This is an original, Colt New Service Model Shooting Master Revolver manufactured in 1935 and chambered for the .45 Long Colt Cartridge. The Shooting Master was a large framed, double action revolver with a 6-inch barrel. The were a hand-fitted and hand-honed match grade gun with adjustable sights and machined grip straps. This revolver was ordered with a square butt. It is believed that Colt only made about 156 of these chambered for .45 Long Colt, making it a very rare revolver, indeed. This one is in very fine condition with about 95% of its factory blued finish remaining. It would have nearly 100%, but one of its previous owners cut fourteen grooves across the checkering at the top of the back strap. What can you say? Against stupidity, the Gods themselves contend in vain! There is a bit of holster wear at the muzzle. There is a scuff behind one flute of the cylinder. The bore, chambers, and mechanics are excellent. The checkered walnut grips with the Colt medallion are very fine with just a tiny ding or two from use. This is a truly rare revolver in great condition except for, well, you know... Stock no. 31538
