Description :

This is an original, U.S. Model 1903 National Match Rifle manufactured at Springfield Armory in 1930. It is chambered for the .30-06 Government cartridge. The rifle has a Star-Gauged barrel made at Springfield and dated "12-29". The bolt is a polished "Nickel Steel" type with the rifle's serial number etched on with an electric pencil. The stock is a full pistol grip type "C". This rifle is in very fine condition with more than 90% of its factory dark gray/black Parkerized and blued finishes remaining. There is light finish wear on the front edge of the nose cap and barrel near the muzzle. The bolt remains armory bright. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The barrel has a Star Gauge marking on the muzzle. It is faint, but definitely there. The Type "C" stock is very fine with just a few tiny dings from use or storage. It has a crisp "P" firing proof on the pistol grip and the correct "D.A.L." inspector's cartouche on the left side of the wrist. There is a serial number stamped on the belly of the stock between the rear swivel and the grip. Alas, it does not match the rifle's serial number. It is pretty close, though, dating it to the correct year. This is a very nice example of a National Match '03 Springfield. Stock no. 31547
