FINE, MAUSER MADE, SWEDISH MODEL 1896 RIFLE, 6.5X55MM

This is a Swedish Model 1896 Mauser Infantry Rifle manufactured by Mauser Oberndorff in 1900 and chambered for the 6.5x55mm cartridge. Mauser made the initial production run of these rifles in 1899 and 1900, with only 38,600 made. Carl Gustaf took over production and manufactured them until about 1925. This rifle is in fine condition. It has all matching numbers except for the barrel bands. It retains more than 95% of its blued finish with some light wear on the barrel. The matching bolt is armory bright except for the bolt knob, which has developed a dark brown patina. The rifle has a very fine bore and excellent mechanics. The stock is in fine condition. It has been lightly sanded and given a clear coat. There are small importer marks on the barrel. The barrel has been fitted with the screw on muzzle brake and a rear target peep sight. The front sight blade is higher. This is a nice example of the Mauser made '96 Swedish Mauser. Stock no. 31291
