Item No.: 10539 Price : $650.00
Item : FINE BRITISH PATTERN 1905 STAFF SERGEANT'S SWORD & SCABBARD
Description :
This is a British Pattern 1905 Staff Sergeant's Sword & Scabbard manufactured by Robert Mole & Sons in 1911. This sword probably had the cypher of Edward VII originally. In 1912 they were rehilted to bear the royal cypher of George V. The date of the blades manufacture is awfully close to 1912 so it may have been manufactured that way. This sword is in fine condition. The blade remains almost 100% brightly polished with just a few tiny speckles near the edge at the point. The maker's mark on the right ricasso is crisp and the sword is dated on the left ricasso. The grip is covered in shark or ray skin and is in fine condition. The polished steel guard is very fine with Mole's name on the front and what looks like unit markings above the grip on the back. The scabbard is in fine condition with brown speckling and several small areas of brown patina. It also has Mole's marking on the spine of the scabbard. Both the blade and scabbard have the original Broad Arrow marking and also two Broad Arrows point to point. These two arrows indicate an item sold out of service. The sword also includes its original leather hanger straps in very good condition. This is a very nice example of the British Pattern 1905 Staff Sergeant's Sword. Stock no. 31215
