Description :
|
This is an original, Russian Model 1891/30 Mosin-Nagant Sniper Rifle made at Izhevsk Arsenal in 1936 and chambered for the 7.62x54mm Rimmed cartridge. It is fitted with the early PE Model 31 telescopic sight, which is dated 1934. Though a new smaller scope, the PU, was adopted in 1940, these early scopes served throughout the war. This rifle is in fine to very fine condition with all matching numbers. It retains more than 95% of its factory blued finish with just a tiny rust speck or two and some very light wear on exposed edges. There is a rusted area on the curved bolt handle about 1.5" long that has left a rough brown patina. The rifle has excellent mechanics and an excellent bore. The stock is very fine with just a few small scrapes of the varnished finish. The scope is in very fine condition. It is marked with the model name "?.?. ???.1931 ?." which means Rifle Scope model 1931. It is also marked "?.?.?", which is an abbreviation for "?????????? ??????? ???????? (??)" (Directorate of Military devices of Main Artillery Directorate). The scope is dated 1934 in the maker's block. The scope retains nearly all of its black finish with clear, crisp markings. I believe that this scope is real but am not certain. The optics are clear. The center post is a bit fuzzy for me, but that may be my eyes. The rubber lens covers are not correct. Included is a web sling in fine condition. There is some rust on the buckle. Also included is a canvas and leather scope/breech cover in fine condition. This is a very nice, early WWII Russian Sniper. Stock no. 31226
