WWII, US LEND-LEASE SAVAGE NO.4, MK.1* ENFIELD RIFLE, .303 CAL., 1942 MFG.

This is an original, WWII, No.4, Mk.1* Short Magazine Lee Enfield (SMLE) Rifle manufactured by Savage Arms in 1942. It is chambered for the .303 British cartridge. This rifle was built under Lend-Lease laws which allowed American companies to produce military weapons for foreign countries prior to our involvement in the war. They are marked "U.S. Property", so technically they are just on loan. This rifle is in very good to fine condition with more than 80% of its black finish remaining. There is light overall finish wear from use, which is heaviest on exposed edges and the bolt handle knob. The rifle has excellent mechanics with a matching bolt. The bore is excellent, as well. The stock is in very good condition with just a few small dings and scratches from use. There is an old armory repair to the wood at the heel of the stock. Included is an original, WWII, web sling in very good condition. The sling appears to have been white, originally, but has significant yellowing and some staining. This is a rifle that has seen some actual use but remains in nice condition. Stock no. 31113
