This is an original, U.S. M1 Garand Semi-Automatic Rifle manufactured at Springfield Armory in September of 1942. It is chambered for the .30-06 Government cartridge. The M1 was the standard U.S. Battle Rifle in WWII and the Korean War. Feeding from an 8-round enbloc clip, it gave our GIs a significant increase in firepower over the earlier bolt-action rifles. This rifle is typical of those reworked after the war and has a mixture of parts. The bolt is made by International Harvester, and the trigger group is by Winchester. The rifle was rebarreled near war's end and has a Springfield barrel dated "3-45". This rifle is in very good condition. It retains 60-70% of its parkerized finish with moderate overall wear. This is heaviest on the bolt, butt plate, and gas cylinder. The mechanics are excellent. The barrel is essentially new with an excellent, bright bore. It gauges "1" at the muzzle and "1" at the throat. The stock is in very good condition with a few small dings and scratches from use. The front handguard is lighter in color than the rest of the stock. There is no finer rifle than a rugged, reliable M1 Garand. Stock no. 31063
