Description :
|
This is an original, Winchester Model 1895 Rifle manufactured in 1915 and chambered for the .30-06 Government cartridge. It has a 26" round barrel. Designed by John browning, the Model 1895 was the first lever action to use a box magazine. The receiver was quite strong allowing the use of modern high-power cartridges like the .30-06 and .405 Winchester. It was a favorite of Teddy Roosevelt and was prominently featured in Winchester calendars of the early 1900's. This rifle is in very good to fine condition with about 70% of its factory blued finish remaining. The barrel retains most of its blue with just a few specks of lost. The receiver has about 60% of its blue remaining. The blue has flaked on about 40% of the receiver leaving a brown patina behind. There is some finish light wear on the lever and butt plate. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The stock is very good to fine with some small dings and scratches from use. The forend has a Schnabel tip with an ebony inlay. The '95 Winchester is an iconic American rifle and one of my personal favorites. Stock no. 30132
