This is a Supersport-Five Rifle manufactured by the Birmingham Small Arms (BSA) Company. It is chambered for the .22 Long Rifle cartridge. It is a bolt-action rifle with a 22" barrel, feeding from a 5-round box magazine. BSA only made 7,197 of these from 1955 to 1967. At some point, the British government decided to take all the magazines, leaving the rifles behind as single shots. Today, these magazines are quite scarce and command a hefty price. This rifle has had a rubber insert made for the magazine well for use as a single shot. The magazine well opening has has a bit of black tape put over it to hold the rubber in place. This rifle is in very good to fine condition with about 90% of its blued and black finish remaining. There are a few small surface rust speckles on the barrel. The trigger guard has some wear of the black finish. The bolt is finished bright with some browning of the bolt handle knob. The bolt is numbered to the gun. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The stock is in good condition with a scattering of small dings and scratches from use. There are some heavier scratches or cuts behind the front sling swivel. Included is an olive-colored leather sling in excellent condition. It looks good on the rifle. This would be a great little rifle for a young shooter. Stock no. 31024
