Item No.: 10492 Price : $1,695.00
Item : SCARCE SMITH & WESSON .22/32 BEKEART MODEL REVOLVER, .22 LR
Description :
This is a Smith & Wesson .22/32 Bekeart Model Revolver chambered for the .22 Long Rifle cartridge. These revolvers were originally made at the request of a San Francisco gun dealer named Philip Bekeart. He requested a .22 caliber revolver built on the .32 Hand Ejector "I" frame. It was to have a 6"-barrel, adjustable rear target sights, and checkered walnut extension grips. Smith & Wesson produced 3,000 of these for Bekeart before adopting the revolver as a regular catalogued item, the .22/32 Heavy Frame Target Model, in 1915. The 3,000 Bekeart guns have a separate serial number stamped on the bottom of the wood grips. This revolver is stamped with the number "1106" and probably dates to 1912 or 1913. The gun is in fine condition with about 70% of its factory blued finish remaining. There is some overall finish wear with heavier wear on the top strap, front grip strap, and trigger guard. There are some fine scratches on the frame sides. There are some small dings on the crane. The revolver has excellent mechanics. The bore is fair with some old pitting and wear of the rifling. The checkered walnut extension grips are in fine condition with just a couple of tiny dings from use. They have S&W medallions. A .22/32 Bekeart is a scarce revolver and a must have for a Smith & Wesson collector. Stock no. 30922
