Item :	ANTIQUE GERMAN MODEL 1871 MAUSER INFANTRY RIFLE, 11X60R

This is an antique German Model 1871 Mauser Infantry Rifle manufactured at Amberg Armory in 1879. The Model 1871 was the very first Mauser design adopted. At this early date the Mauser brothers didn't have the ability to produce entire rifles, so they were made at Spandau and Amberg. The Mauser brothers did supply the rear sights. This is a single shot, bolt action rifle firing the 11x60mm rimmed metallic cartridge. The Model 1871 assured the future success of the Mauser firm. This rifle is in very good to fine condition. The only part that I can see that does not match is the bolt stop screw and collar on the bolt handle. The bolt itself and all other parts do match. There is about 20% of the blued finish remaining on the barrel in protected areas. The bolt and receiver were originally armory bright and remain that way. The majority of the gun has a steel and brown patina. The butt plate has a dark brown patina. The rifle works well mechanically. The bore is in very fine condition. The stock is very good with a scattering of small dings and scratches. The Model 1871 was a huge success with examples serving as late as the First World War in rear echelon units.
