This is a Spanish Model 1916 Infantry Short Rifle. The rear sight and scrubbed receiver ring indicate that this is a 2nd Type Model 1916, refurbished by the victorious fascist government after 1939. In addition, the gun was rechambered to .308 Winchester, according to the importer marks on the barrel. This rifle is in good to very good condition with about 60-70% of its blued finish remaining. There is light overall wear, which is heavier on the barrel. The bolt is finished bright. The gun has excellent mechanics with a mis-matched bolt. The bore is good. It is mostly shiny, but there was some light rusting near the muzzle. The trigger guard is slightly bent, but some tapping with a hammer should bring the shape back. The stock is in good condition with a scattering of dings and scratches from use. There are importer marks on the barrel. These are handy little rifles. Stock no. 29850
