Item :	EXCELLENT, WWII, GERMAN ARMY OFFICER'S HEER DAGGER W/HANGER & PORTAPEE

Description :

This is an original, German Army Officer's Dagger with its original Army hanger and Portapee. Known as "Heer" daggers, these were first worn in 1935 at occasions not formal enough to warrant the wearing of a full-sized sword. This dagger is in excellent condition. All surfaces of both the dagger and scabbard remain bright. Lots of original frosting remains around the oak leaves on the pommel and the end of the quillon arms. The off-white plastic grip resembles ivory and is in perfect condition. The unmarked blade is mirror bright and needle sharp. There are some tiny, discolored spots on the blade about 1 1/2" from the tip. There is no rust or pitting! The guard retains the original leather washer in excellent condition. The pebbled metal scabbard remains bright with no dents or damage of any kind. Included is the original Army hanger and the Portapee (sword knot). The hanger is in very fine condition with deluxe gray metal fittings. One strap has a bit of fraying on the green velvet backing material. The Portapee is in very good condition with some heavier fraying on the cords. It is particularly frayed at the point where the cord enters the knot. There may be rarer examples of the Heer dagger, but you will be hard pressed to find one in better condition. Stock no. 30473
