Item No.: 10399 Price : SOLD
Description :
Here is an Egyptian Hakim Rifle chambered for the 7.92x57mm cartridge. Originally produced by the Swedish as the Ag m/42 (Ljungman rifle), the Hakim was produced in Egypt using tooling and design purchased from Sweden. Production took place in the 1950's and early 1960's. The Hakim was re-engineered to use the German 7.92x57mm (8mm Mauser) cartridge due to the large stockpiles remaining in Egypt after WWII. The larger cartridge necessitated the use of a permanent muzzle brake to reduce recoil. The rifle would serve as Egypt's main battle rifle until the mid-1960's when it was replaced by the Maadi AK-47. Some Hakims are still in service today with Egyptian Police Units. This Hakim is in very good condition with about 60% of its dark phosphate finish remaining. There is overall light wear of the finish consistent with use in the field. The trigger guard is beginning to turn brown. The rifle has excellent mechanics and a fine bore. The grooves are a little dark with a touch of frostiness but the rifling appears strong along the bore's length. The stock is very good with a scattering of small dings and gouges from use. There are a couple of short hairline cracks running from the back of the receiver towards the butt. There are a couple of tight hairline cracks in the handguard. Included is a good quality replica sling in excellent condition. Also included are 4 German MG13 magazines that have been modified for use in the Hakim. I do not know how well they will function, if at all! Stock no. 30449
