Item :	VERY FINE SWISS MARTINI STYLE SCHUETZEN RIFLE BY H. HATT, 7.5X55MM

Description :

This is a Swiss Martini Style Schuetzen Rifle made by "H.Hatt" of Zurich, Switzerland. It is chambered for the 7.5x55mm cartridge. Built on a Swiss Martini action, it is a single shot, lever operated design with a 32" octagonal barrel made by H. Sommerhalder of Aarau, Switzerland. The rifle has double set triggers. The barrel has flutes cut into the flats for about 17" in front of the forend tip and ending just behind the front sight base. The stock is fitted with an adjustable Schuetzen style butt plate. There is an inset stippled thumbrest. The lever forms a Schuetzen style trigger guard. There are threaded holes on the belly of the stock for palm rests. The top flat of the barrel has a machined rail for the target rear sight, which can be moved forward or backward for optimum placement. Unfortunately, the front sight is missing. This rifle is in fine condition. The barrel and butt plate retain more than 95% of their original blued finish. The receiver and trigger plate retain nearly all of their case colors. The lever, also case colored, has some finish wear in the areas where the fingers rest. The breech block is polished white. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The stock is in fine condition with a scattering of small dings and scratches from use. There is a crack along the barrel channel on the right side of the forearm just ahead of the receiver. The barrel key escutcheons appear to be silver plated with about 40% flaking off. There is a small German Silver plaque set in the right side of the stock that reads "Joseph Unfanger / ZURICH". I assume that this is the original owner. Included is a beautiful, braided leather sling that is original to the gun. It also has a small metal oval riveted on and engraved with the owner's name. This is a great example of a Swiss Schuetzen rifle. Stock no. 30448
