INERT WWI FRENCH F1 HAND GRENADE W/ BILLANT FUSE

This is an original, French F1 Hand Grenade (Fusante No. 1). It is equipped with the M1916 Billant Time Fuse. This was the best grenade design of the First World War and was used by multiple nations throughout the first half of the 20th century. It was the preferred grenade of the U.S. Army during WWI and was the basis of the American Mk.II fragmentation grenade used throughout WWII. This grenade is in fine condition. It is INERT, safe, and legal to own. The segmented body has a dark brown patina. The fuse body has a lead-colored patina. The handle or spoon has been painted black. There is a lead filler plug in the base. No WWI collection is complete without a Fusante No. 1! They have become quite scarce. Stock no. 30431
