This is an original, WWII Japanese Type 38 Carbine manufactured at Nagoya Arsenal and chambered for the 6.5mm Arisaka cartridge. Adopted in 1905, the Type 38 was shorter than the rifle and had side mounted sling swivels. Intended for cavalry use, it was produced through the end of WWII. This carbine is in very good to fine condition with a Chrysanthemum and about 70% of its factory blued finish remaining. There is some light overall finish wear with heavier wear on the trigger guard and magazine floor plate. The bitt plate is bright with a heavy speckling of rust spots. The rifle has excellent mechanics with all-matching numbers. The bolt is a little sticky and would benefit from a good cleaning and some oil. The bore is excellent. The stock is very good with the usual scattering of small dings, gouges, and scratches associated with use in the field. This is a good, matching Type 38 Carbine with matching numbers and a whole Mum. Stock no. 30355
