FINE, SCARCE, WWII WINCHESTER "WIN-13" M-1 GARAND RIFLE, .30-06

Description :
|
This is an original, WWII, U.S. M-1 Rifle manufactured by Winchester in May of 1945. This is a scarce variant known as a "WIN-13" M-1. These rifles share a block of numbers with rifles made at Springfield Armory. As a result, their receivers are stamped with a special drawing number ending in WIN-13. This production run of Winchester M-1 Rifles saw the use of updated internal parts that were being used at Springfield. These rifles were also the first Winchesters to use the new poppet-type gas cylinder lock screw for the M-7 Grenade Launcher. These rifles had serial numbers in the range of 1,600,000 and higher, which was lower than the numbers of their previous production. This differed from the normal practice of assigning serial numbers that were higher than previous production. This rifle is in fine condition. It retains more than 90% of its parkerized finish with light wear on the high points of the gun. There is a bit more wear on the gas cylinder which is normal. The butt plate has heavier finish wear and there is some wear on the bottom of the trigger guard. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The stock is fine with a few small dings from use. The stock cartouche is not legible, but the "P" firing proof is. The gun appears to have its correct, as-built parts. The operating rod has the circular relief cut, but it is a field modification on the original rod. There are some grinder marks and rust at the barrel receiver joint I can't explain. They do not affect the integrity of the gun. Included is an original M-1 web sling in excellent condition. It is unmarked. This is a scarce Winchester M-1 in nice condition. Stock no. 30100
