Item :	WWII INLAND U.S. M-1 CARBINE, .30 CALIBER, 1944 PRODUCTION

Description :

This is an original, U.S. M-1 carbine manufactured by the Inland Division of General Motors in the summer of 1944. It is chambered for the .30 caliber carbine cartridge. This carbine is in very fine condition and remains in almost "as built" configuration. The trigger housing assembly has been swapped for a fabricated Type IV Underwood housing. It and its parts are not correct. The Inland barrel is dated "7-44". The other features are appropriate for a carbine of this vintage. There is no bayonet mount. It has a Type II barrel band with four weld marks. The 4-rivet hand guard is correct. The Type III stamped rear sights began to be used at approximately 5,300,000. The Type IV slide and round bolt are also correct. The low wood stock is marked "IO" in the sling well and has the correct ordnance wheel cartouche on the right side of the stock. The gun retains more than 95% of its original parkerized finish with some light wear on the edges of the trigger guard assembly and a tiny scuff or two on the barrel. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The stock is very fine with just a few small dings from use. Included is one original WWII magazine marked "AI". This gun could be made all-correct by swapping the trigger housing for a Type III example. Stock no. 29942
