DUTCH MODEL 1895 CAVALRY CARBINE, 6.5X53R

This is a Dutch Model 1895 Carbine made by Steyr in 1900. These were introduced in 1896. There were 17 variations of this carbine with custom features for the different branches of service. This is one of the variations. It has no handguard and side mounted sling swivels and is probably the Cavalry variant. This gun is in very fine condition with about 95% of its blued finish remaining. The butt plate has turned brown. It has probably undergone at least one arsenal refinish. All the lettering remains sharp. The gun has excellent mechanics with a mis-matched bolt. The bore is quite horrible, rough, and dark. You can see rifling, but its rough. The stock is in fine condition but has been given a clear coat of poly or varnish. Still, externally this is a good looking, clean example of the 1895 Carbine. Stock no. 29816
