EARLY WWII INLAND DIVISION U.S. M1 CARBINE, 1943 MFG., .30 CAL.

Description :
|
This is an original, WWII U.S. M1 Carbine manufactured by the Inland Division of General Motors in April of 1943. This places it squarely in the first block of production. The carbine was intended to replace the .45 pistol for support troops and those serving crew served weapons. It was universally popular and ended up serving in front line combat throughout the war. This carbine is in very fine condition. It remains in its original, WWII configuration with no bayonet mount, early flip sight, and an oval cut high wood stock. It has about 95% of its parkerized finish remaining. There is some light finish wear on the high points consistent with use. The gun has excellent mechanics and an excellent bore. The stock is in fine condition with a few small dings and scratches from use. There is a "P" firing proof on the grip and a large ordnance wheel cartouche on the right side of the stock. The cartouche is a light strike, but the stock has not been sanded or refinished. Included is the original web sling in fair condition. It has some soiling and rust staining. If you want a good, as-built, M1 carbine, this is what they looked like in WWII. Stock no. 29790
