This is a Model 1874 Sharps Long Range Express Rifle made by Shiloh Rifle Manufacturing of Big Timber, Montana. It is chambered for the .45 2 1/10" cartridge (.45-70). Shiloh rifles are of the very highest quality. This rifle has a number of upgrades from the standard Long Range Express. First is the presentation grade wood. It is beautiful flame figure walnut with an AA finish. The forearm has the pewter Hartford style tip. The 30" octagonal barrel has the polished finish. The screws are flame blued with brass escutcheons. The full pistol grip stock has the checkered and case colored steel shotgun butt plate. The rifle is fitted with the Montana Vintage Arms #101 Mid-Range Soule Tang Sight and the MVA #113 Globe Front Sight with a spirit level. It is also fitted with the standard Lawrence rear barrel sight. The double set triggers are standard on this rifle. This rifle is in excellent, like new condition with nearly 100% of its factory blued and case-colored finishes remaining. There is a tiny faint scratch on the barrel behind the Lawrence rear sight. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The stock is truly stunning and in perfect condition. There is a very tiny scuff on the pewter of the nose cap. The MVA sights are in perfect condition, as well. I own and shoot one of these rifles and can attest to their quality and accuracy. If you build a rifle on Shiloh's site with these features, it totals over $4500.00 along with the wait.
