FINE BENJAMIN F. JOSLYN ARMY MODEL REVOLVER, .44 PERCUSSION
Description :
This is an original Benjamin F. Joslyn Army Model Revolver manufactured in 1862 in Stonington, Connecticut. The Joslyn Army is a large, percussion 5-shot revolver of .44 caliber. It has an 8" octagonal barrel and checkered walnut grips. This is a late standard model with a flat iron butt cap. Only about 2,500 were produced in 1861 and 1862. About 1,100 of these were purchased on the open market in New York, with almost all going to Ohio. The majority were issued to the 5th and 6th Ohio Cavalry. These pistols have no special markings. This revolver is in fine condition. The cylinder retains about 30% of its factory blued finish. The butt cap retains 90% of its blue. The remainder of the gun has a smooth brown patina. The guns works very well mechanically. The bore is very fine with strong rifling. There is a bit of light rust at the base of the chambers. The walnut grips are very fine with strong checkering. This is great example of a scarce Civil War pistol. Stock no. 27193
