Here is an original, US Model 1903 Rifle manufactured by Rock Island Arsenal in 1917. The standard American battle rifle of the First World War, the M1903 served on until the end of WWII. Early WWII combat saw the '03 used by the Army and the Marine Corps. As M1 rifle production ramped up, the '03 was gradually replaced. It remained in front line service as a platform for launching rifle grenades until the end of the war. This rifle has been armory rebuilt for WWII service. It has been parkerized and has a WWII replacement stock. The stock has a crisp "FJA" (Frank J. Atwood) cartouche with the ordnance wheel. It also has a post war inspection cartouche of "B.A.-W.L." for Benicia Arsenal. The field replacement barrel was made by High Standard and is dated "10-44". The bolt is a Brown & Sharp military replacement. The rifle is in excellent condition with nearly 100% of the parkerized finish remaining. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The stock is in exellent condition as well with crisp markings and just a tiny ding or two from storage. Included is an original US Model 1907 leather sling in fine condition. It is unmarked. This is an excellent example of the M1903 Rifle as issued in WWII. Stock no. 27315
