REVOLUTIONARY WAR SPANISH MODEL 1756 DRAGOON MUSKET, .75 CALIBER
Description :
Here is an original, Spanish Model 1756 Dragoon Musket of about .75 caliber. This is a type used by American Forces in the Revolutionary War. Spain supplied a number of arms to the United States in their bid for independence. It is known that Virginia equipped George Rogers Clark's Illinois Campaign with Spanish muskets, undoubtedly placing them at the Battle of Vincennes. This musket is in very good condition. It has been lightly cleaned leaving a steel patina. There is some fine pitting on the barrel, lock, and ramrod. The lock works well, but the main spring is extremely heavy. The .75 caliber bore is dark with pitting along its length. The brass furniture has been lightly cleaned and has developed a golden bronze patina. The stock is very good with the usual scattering of small dings and scratches from years of use. There are also a few old powder post beetle holes present. There are some small chips along the ramrod and barrel and the lock mortise. This is a rare and unique firearm of the American Revolution. Stock no. 26894
