69 Caliber smoothbore French Cavalry Pistol of the American Revolution. 13 1/2 Inches overall with a bright 7 1/2 inch round barrel. The barrel is date proofed at the left breech, "1781". The bore is evenly corroded which is to be expected for 240 years old iron. Barrel tang lightly engraved "M1777"; Brass lock arsenal marked, "Mauberge". Lock is additionally stanped with a star mounted "T" above the locks brass pan, Handsome golden brass trigger guard and heavy duty pommel. Single piece walnut stock with left side mounted spring iron belt hook. . Pommel cap stamped with what my be a stylized "Virginia" ownership A over entwined "V". This is quite possible. Excellent mechanics!
