COLT U.S. MODEL 1911 PISTOL, WWII AUGUSTA ARSENAL REBUILD

This is an original, U.S. Model 1911 .45 Auto Pistol manufactured by Colt in 1919. It was rebuilt for service in WWII at Augusta Arsenal. During the rebuild, it was parkerized, given a M1911A1 style mainspring housing, and fitted with brown plastic grips. It remains in very fine, rebuilt condition with about 98% of its parkerized finish remaining. There is a little holster wear at the front edges of the slide. The pistol has an excellent bore and mechanics. The grips are in excellent condition. Though refinished, the markings remain visible. The initials "A. A." for Augusta Arsenal are stamped on the left side of the frame above the trigger guard. Thousands of these earlier, rebuilt pistols served in WWII. They are an essential part of any WWII collection. Stock no. 23712
