|
Description :
|
Here is an original, WWI German Model 1916 Steel helmet (Stahlhelm). This is the earliest variation of the German steel helmet, with a leather mounting band for the liner. The helmet is camouflage painted and bears the shield insignia of the Gardekorps, the 1st Foot Guards Regiment. This helmet is in fine condition with a full, original liner, and original chin strap. The camo paint is original, as is the shield insignia. There are a number of scrapes and scratches on the outer surface of the helmet from use. About 85-90% of the paint remains. There is some abrasion of the Garedekorps insignia with about 2/3 of it remaining. This is a great example of an early Stahlhelm with a scarce unit marking. Stock no. 22827
