Item :	VERY FINE, WWII LUFTWAFFE OFFICER'S SWORD AND SCABBARD

This is an original, WWII Luftwaffe Officer's Sword and Scabbard made by "E. & F. Horster" of Solingen, Germany. This sword has a nickel silver grip and mountings. The sword is in very fine condition. The blade retains 100% of its factory bright finish with no rusting or discoloration. The pommel and guard have a little tarnish. The wire wrapped, blue leather grip is very fine with tight wrapping and just a little scuffing of the leather. The scabbard is equally nice. It retains all of its blue leather covering with just a few small dings in the surface of the leather. The scabbard retrains its blue leather crescent shaped hanger as well. This is in fine condition with just a small amount of wear on back at the strap hanger. This sword was brought back by Sgt. Daniel Carter Morrow, who was a Quartermaster Sargent attached to the HQ of the 83rd Infantry Division. He landed in Normandy in late June 1944 and was with the division to the far side of the Elbe in 1945. In the spring of 1945 the division overran a Luftwaffe training facility in or near either Rischenau or Eschershause, both in Westphalia, Germany. Sgt. Morrow “liberated” a group of swords and daggers which he was able to send home. This is one of those and is a superb example of the Luftwaffe Officer's sword. Stock no. 22277
