FINE, WWI USMC OFFICER'S SWORD, NAMED

This is an original, WWI, United States Marine Corps Officer's Sword made by Horstmann of Philadelphia. The sword is identified to Oscar A. Anderson, whose name is etched on the left side of the blade. The Horstmann name is on the left ricasso. Both sides of the blade are etched with "UNITED STATES MARINES". The sword is in fine condition with a brilliant bright blade. There is a little discoloration around the area where Anderson's name was etched. There is a tiny hairline crack in the right grip panel where the grommet goes through the grip. There is a bit of wear at the highest points of the gilt guard. The scabbard is nickel plated with gilt furniture. The nickel has turned frosty over the years. The gilt has just a little wear on the high points. This is a very high quality sword, in nice condition. It will be interesting to research Oscar Anderson. Stock no. 21651
