Description :
|
This is an original, WWI, U.S. Model 1911 semi-automatic Pistol manufactured by Colt in 1919. Designed by John Browning, the M1911 was the standard U.S. service pistol of the First World War. It was chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge, a potent man-stopper, and continues in service to this day in a variety of incarnations. Research included with this pistol indicates that it was shipped to Army Reserve Depot in Schenectady, NY. This pistol is in very good condition. It retains about 65% of its factory blued finish, with portions beginning to turn brown. The finish wear is heavier on the grip straps. Unfortunately, the "U.S. Property" markings have been scrubbed off of the frame. The pistol has excellent mechanics and a fine bore. The walnut grips are complete with no chips or cracks. There are a few small dings in the checkering. Included is an early two-tone magazine. It is of the variety with a lanyard loop, but the loop has been removed. There are some papers with the gun with information uncovered through research. The purchase receipt from 2005 is also included. Even with the scrubbed markings, this is a solid M1911 in nice condition. Stock no. 21513
