U.S. MODEL 1863 SPRINGFIELD TYPE II RIFLE MUSKET

This is an original Civil War, U.S. Model 1863 Springfield Type II Rifle Musket of .58 caliber. This is a shooter's gun that has been refurbished. The metal has been cleaned to restore its factory bright appearance and the barrel has been re-lined and rifled for optimum shooting. The stock has been checkered at the wrist. The gun is in fine condition, with excellent mechanics. The 3-groove rifled bore is perfect and shiny. The stock is very nice with a rich brown walnut color. There are a few small dings from use that have darkened over the years. The checkering has large diamonds, but is well done, giving the rifle a nice appearance. Both cartouches remain faint but visible on the left flat of the stock. The metal retains its original markings with a date of 1864 on both the lock and barrel. This should be a great shooting rifle.
