|
Description :
|
This is an original, Crimean War Russian "Stutzer" Rifle manufactured by " P.J Malherbe A Liege". A Brunswick rifle, made in Belgium specifically for Russia, this was a sharpshooter's weapon firing a .704 caliber belted ball with great accuracy. This rifle is marked with the Russian Eagle on the tang of the butt plate and with the Russian Crown and regimental markings on the thumb piece. This rifle is in very good to fine condition. The barrel and lock have an overall dark brown patina. The brass furniture has a very nice uncleaned bronze patina. The mechanics work well. The 2 groove bore, made for the belted ball, is a bit frosty, but has strong rifling along its length. The stock has a number of small dings and scratches from use. The Russian Stutzer Brunswick Rifle is a rare gun and this is a very nice example. Stock no. 20814
